Steel Beach, by John Varley
January 9th, 2005 by BeRKAThis book was interesting, but had really nothing useful fortraveller. It was full of funny ideas, like what the nano-bots could do for you like sex changes and brushing your teeth.
It also had an interesting setting. Humanity had been thrown out from earth by some super race of dolphin lovers, so now humanity lived on the moon and on the other planets, and were not allowed to go back to earth. The main character is a reporter, who is supposed two write an article series for the 200 year anniversary, since the war with the aliens.

So it might either be useful for Transhuman Space or an Ancients campaign…

Maybe… I don’t own Transhuman Space (yet) so I am not sure.

You can buy my copy - $80 US! (I’m halfway joking, but if you want to, well…)

Transhuman Space really seem like an interesting RPG.
However, I don’t have any time to get involved in another RPG right now.

Keep in mind that THS is quite different from Traveller, both in outlook and technology. It has biological nanotech, no CG or FTL, and a lot of divergent cultures - all in a single solar system.
Can’t comment on Steel Beach, ’cause I’ve never read it.
